Ls42 Army Meritorious Service Medal, George V, swivel suspender to Quartermaster Serjeant Peter Patrick Redfearn, Royal Artillery.  Extensive research includes a copy of Redfearn's service record showing that he was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and enlisted on 26 November 1866 aged 14 years and 10 months.  Initially enlisted as a Boy, he served at home bases such as Woolwich, Seaforth and Chatham and overseas in India and Malta, achieved the rank of Serjeant Major at the age of 27.  He was awarded the Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1885, but did not receive the Army Meritorious Service Medal, with annuity, until 1923 at the age of 71 (hence George V)!  His Regimental Number was 22247, but this has been omitted from the naming.  His 31 years of service ended on 31 Decemeber 1897.  Also included is a copy of his marriage certificate showing his marriage to Rosalia Sarah Bacon on 27 February 1881 in West Ham, his death certificate showing that he died on 22 July 1937 in Gravesend and a copy of his will.  An unusual medal requiring further research (NEF) SOLD
